The brand was created by Loris Azzaro, born in Tunisia to Italian parents. Loris spent his entire childhood and adolescence by the shore, surrounded by sea, sunshine, and the atmosphere of life in the Mediterranean which ultimately inspired his work. In the 1960s he founded Azzaro and earned his first big success with his sparkly dresses, sharply contrasting with the little black dress popular at the time.
The first Azzaro fragrance was introduced in 1975 and since then the brand has released several dozen fragrances.
